I think the writer of Eragon was influenced by the Pern series if that helps any.  Eragon is like a baby book in comparison though.  Smiley

'The White Dragon' - one of the Pern novels. Damn good book.

Yes, we can call an author classic. Tho, they're usually called Grand Masters.

Arthur C. Clark comes to mind. I can not think of a single book of his I didn't enjoy. Try 'The Fountains of Paradise.'

Him and J.R.R. Tolkien more than anyone are who first inspired me to write!

Bingo!  He was the original.  I was reading Poe at a pretty young age.  Smiley  After that... what drove me to be a bit more twisted was reading Clive Barker.
